The female orc is pretty neat looking anyway. Orcs in general have smoother animations than humans, for instance.

It won't look worse, but i assume it's gonna have more detailed muscularity because of the new textures and higher polygon number.

The real question for me is male human animated. How will it be possible to make it good and on par with the others without radically changing it?

I think i'll look forward to every model release, but, with release, i mean orc and dwarf/gnome. Not human or undead, these are just 3D models without even basic animations.

Textures will update the models and make them look really nice in the game world, but it's the animations that make them alive. Pandaren animations are on a whole different level then the rest of them, really, maybe with the exception of goblins and worgen. Not talking about aesthetics, but smoothness and "frames per second".

Doesn't really matter how good it looks, they're not going to deviate from WoW's established style.

My only hope is that there's more than 2 good hairs and more than 1 face that looks decent. Same as fem trolls.

Looks pretty WoW to me, just more realized if anything, and higher def than what we have now.

Yep, female trolls have a special place in my heart so I hope they do the new model justice.

The orc face in the above post is brilliant looking.

That orcs face screams Warcraft even louder than Warcraft screams Warcraft.
On a side note, her face has no Homer Simpson issues.

Forsaken cue you in pretty fast what with all the bones sticking out through the armour :P

There is a reason everyone and their dog plays a female bloodelf. (No offense to anyone tho. ...i know, surprising to hear that from me)
I disagree, both males and females are idealised. Ideals for male body types are usually big and muscly, ideals for female are typically slender and/or well endowed. It's only sexualised because we see everything through a straight male lens. Aren't those big beefcake humans and sexy Blood Elf males sexualised if you're into that?

His muscles in WC3 look like a quilt.

I diagree about the proportions, it's just a shift in art style between a top-down game and one with a third/first person perspective. He is intended to look the same (but obviously, better) and does.

Looks more like a generic render to me. I think it lacks the classic Warcraft "look".

Also the face is too petite for an Orc female, they should have heavier features.

It's a very nice model though.

How late in beta was the female pandaren model released? How late in beta was the Worgen male model AND female model put into the game client? It's not even beta yet. You literally have no fucking idea what you are talking about. I have no way of knowing the details either, but I can look back and infer things based on precedent. The new race models often are some of the final things finished in the lifetime of the actual beta. We aren't even in beta yet.

You and many people here are being Chicken Littles, and why?

Because someone asked Robinson an innocent question, namely to try and think of one of the most challenging aspects in the model update he thought was a problem. He gave the person an answer. He didn't say "they were having trouble and that this might delay the game",...

But trust a bunch of lemmings who love to think the sky is always falling, who seem to WANT the sky to fall at times, to take that out of context and act as if things are in any way behind schedule or at risk of being behind schedule.

This would be disturbing if it wasn't so bizarrely entertaining. Kind of like when you eat a meal in a third world country or rural community and you have to watch the chicken run around with it's head cut off before you eat it. If you've ever been privy to such a worldly experience.

That's because in game player models are CARICATURES of the serious art in the concept art and cinematics. They are amped up and exaggerated and intentionally made to look goofy. It's been this way since Warcraft 1. The first time I ever saw Warcraft, it was in Best Buy. I thought, "WTF, someone took Warhammer and then put in through the filter of a Walt Disney cartoon!" And it was strangely kind of appealing, though it violated every bit of my 12 old year Warhammer loving soul, but then again, Warhammer's actual in game miniatures did the same thing. Opting for bright colors and exaggerated anatomy to stand out from such tiny scale.

This led to a kind of visual DNA of it's own in Warcraft, which Blizzard imagined immersing you in with WOW's creation, at a first person over the shoulder level of world exploration.

    - - - Updated - - -

As for sexual dimorphism, in cartoons anatomy is tweaked to show personality and character, the rules of biology go out the window. For instance when a character in the cartoon visual lexicon see's a ghost or scary cliff and their eyes literally pop out of their head and shoot into the air. Or when you see birds flying around their heads when they hit in the head in Loony Tunes cartoons. Or a cloud of smoke poof in the air when they take off at great speed, running in mid air a few seconds before shooting off into the distance. Don't be surprised to start seeing stuff like that in WOW, it's a balance between edgy cartoon and cute and goofy cartoon, but the edge they walk is a razor's edge.

An extreme example of the cartoon visual lexicon, Bluto and Olive.

WoW has been getting more and more animated and cartoony with every update to the sophistication of the engine, the ultimate graphical end would look something like a Don Bluth cartoon mixed with the cartoons of the 90s, like the Secret of Nimh meets the Warcraft:Lord of the Clans cartoon.

Especially in the emotes and /say animated sequences, they've been injecting more and more of the principals of animation design into the models, especially in the area of something called "squash and stretch" which Thrall's new model particularly delighted me with when I first saw him talking in his /say animation. It make each movement exaggerated and filled with personality, over the top, so understandable people with a big serious stick up their ass tend to hate it like nails on a chalkboard.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_basi...s_of_animation

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squash_and_stretch

Unfamiliar with the detailed philosophies of cartoon visual lexicons? Have at it:

    http://www.visuallanguagelab.com/P/N...inguistics.pdf

Or Google "cartoon visual lexicon", it's a kind of language we've established over the last 200 years in cartoon publications and animation.

I'm not a fan of the prettied up females. As I've shown, I liked the alpha troll female. I would think when looking at a creature like this.

Their female would look like a creepy swamp hag or banshee, one to do Jenny Greenteeth or Meg Mucklebones of mythology proud.

They should be witches, hags. Following the voodoo priests of the males.

So just for a little fun using the alpha troll as inspiration I took me some Meg Mucklebones and photoshopped it with some of the Mayan aspects from the hedonistic witch like nobles of Apocalypto.

Which created this abomination of darkness.

But I know, some of you just want to be pretty. Oh so pretty. No matter what apparently, everything has to have a pretty option. Can't be a monster, monsters are scary and ugly. And ugly people don't deserve to be seen in public, and should just do us all a favor and die. /sarcasm
